Company Overview
Oso is an independent Madrid craft brewery making fresh, modern, hoppy beers. We’ve been brewing since 2019 as nomads, and are now very excited to be opening our new 30HL production brewery in Alcobendas, Madrid.
The Lead Brewer will play a key role in ensuring our team makes exceptional beer of the highest possible quality. We are looking for an experienced and ambitious brewer who wants to play a key role in leading the growth of our brand and that will continually strive to improve the quality of our beers.
Role Overview:
We need an experienced and knowledgeable brewer to work closely with the Head Brewer, often taking the lead in various aspects of the production process. You will be an integral part of the team, responsible for all aspects of the brewing process and ensuring we are following the very best and most precise brewing processes and best practice. Currently we are a small and dynamic team, but with the opening of the new brewery we expect fast growth in the coming months and years and there is a huge amount of potential for growth and advancement for the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
  • Input into the planning and management of our brew schedule and future brewing and equipment requirements.
  • Training and management of other members of the brewing team.
  • Management of wort production. This includes taking responsibility for organising and preparing everything to allow production to run smoothly.
  • Cellaring duties. This includes daily checks of beer in the laboratory, transferring beer between tanks, dry hopping and an extensive range of other tasks.
  • Packaging into kegs and cans.
  • Yeast management. We will be developing our own strain of house yeast so careful management of this process is required. 
  • Quality control procedures. Playing a key role in ongoing evaluation of the beer and continual improvement of our practices and processes.
  • Ongoing maintenance and close supervision of the brewing equipment and ensuring a safe and hygienic work environment.
  • Inventory management. Including the tracking of all raw materials, supplies, and finished products.
  • Maintain a close interest in and understanding of industry trends, techniques, and innovations.
  • This role will require you to attend festivals and events on behalf of Oso from time to time.
Role Requirements:
  • Minimum of 4 years brewing experience in leading craft breweries.
  • Strong knowledge of brewing equipment, practices and processes. 
  • Be able to work unassisted and manage your time effectively.
  • Desire to grow into a leadership role and to manage other members of the team.
  • A passion for craft beer and a desire for continual professional improvement and excellence.
  • Be able to work independently and effectively in a small but growing team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Be physically fit enough to handle the demands of working in a brewery.
  • Brewing qualifications will be a significant advantage.
  • Right to work in the EU / Spain
  • Ability and willingness to relocate to Madrid.

Production Brewer

The Production Brewer will play a key role in making exceptional beer of the highest possible quality. We are looking for an ambitious, dynamic brewer who wants to play a key role in our brewing team and in this next stage of our growth. This is a full time position based on a 40hr work week at our new brewery in Alcobendas.

We need a driven, skilled brewer to work alongside the rest of the brewing team to ensure the safe and efficient performance and delivery of day to day brewing operations. You will play a key role in all aspects of the brewing process, ensuring we are following the very best and most precise brewing processes and best practice.
